Dr. Nam is passionate about helping babies with tongue ties or lip ties. Laser dentistry tongue-tie and lip-tie correction (Frenectomy) is quickly becoming the treatment method of choice for infants with restricted tongue movement. Nursing plays an important role in early oral development – something Dr. Nam understands as a mother herself and through her advanced pediatric dental training, however, about 10% of babies are born with tongue tie or lip tie (sometimes both), which hinders an infant’s nursing ability. Laser dentistry can help offer you a precise, painless, quick and minimally invasive option!

Did you know, Tongue Tie or Lip Tie Surgery is known as a Frenectomy.

Our Services

Baby Ties

Our goal at Flourish Tongue Tie is to catch babies with tethered oral tissues as early as possible for an easier procedure and aftercare for baby and parents.  Babies often have symptoms with nursing or bottle feeding, trouble with gas/grunting/colic and digestion or sleep issues. We focus on early diagnosis to make the largest improvement in future quality of life but it is never too late to fix ties to help with tongue tie or Lip Tie related symptoms.

Child Ties

Children with a Tongue Tie or Lip Tie will still present with similar issues with feeding (slow and picky eaters, choking on food), speech problems, dental/orthodontic issues, breathing, and sleeping disturbances. When children don’t feel good, then the whole family is affected.

Adult Ties

Many adults we treat for Tongue Ties in the office are actually parents of our babies and children that have been treated. When you see how much difference it makes in your child, it makes you want to have a better quality of life too. Most of the adult symptoms we focus on are jaw, neck, headache pain; continued speech issues and tongue fatigue; obstructive sleep apnea, and gum recession. These ties are genetic, so we often end up treating and helping many members of the same family!

Frenectomy surgery with Laser

Using a laser – Lightscalpel, Dr. Nam can release a tongue or lip tie in a minimally invasive procedure that takes less than a minute. In most cases, only a topical numbing anesthetic is needed to safeguard your baby from any discomfort. Laser dentistry and treatment means that the tongue or lip tie can be repaired with little to no bleeding and minimal discomfort following treatment. Your infant will be able to breastfeed immediately after the tie has been released.

Dr. Nam has taken courses at the Breathe institute with Dr. Soroush Zaghi, providing airway-focused, Tongue and Lip tie treatment with standards and protocols that are based off sound, evidence based research. Learn more at https://www.thebreatheinstitute.com/
